Vaso Aggelopoulou
Animal Volunteer
Here at Vaso Animal Shelter Greece animal volunteer Vaso Aggelopoulou is saving little precious lives every day in her self-built shelter on her olive fields of the Messinia region in the Western Peloponnese region of Greece.

Vaso’s first rescue stray dog was Nina 20 years ago. Nina wandered into the cobblers shop next to Vaso’s shop looking for safety as a pack of dogs were chasing her. The cobbler threw her out. Seeing this Vaso went to her aid and took her into her shop for safety.
Vaso looked at her and couldn’t put her out on the street again. Nina was rescued that day from a harsh life scavenging on the streets. Nina was pregnant and gave birth to her babies and was neutered and lived a beautiful life with Vaso with her babies safe from the streets.
Since then she has rescued hundreds of dogs and cats from a cruel harsh life on the streets of her town in Greece where stray dogs are treated like pests like vermin.
Today she has 70 dogs and 30 cats at her shelter that she cares for all alone. It doesn’t end with her shelter animals she also feeds the stray dogs and stray cat colony at the local cemetery rescuing many dumped baby kittens that cannot fend for themselves and are destined to die otherwise.
She keeps the sick animals in her home and feeds dozens of more strays on the streets of her town. She has dedicated her life to taking in the many strays, some sick, some dying, some dumped, some abused.
The shelters survival relies totally on donations. There is no help from the local municipality. There is no animal pound to take a stray or lost dog to. The responsibility falls on the shoulders of good humans like Vaso to try and help.
These are just some of the faces who she has helped. HELP VASO MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
